Extra Rear Lights

I'm thinking of adding some extra red LED lights to the rear of my 2011 313cdi panel van. I don't fancy the idea of my van becoming 'a motorcycle' if one of the rear lights fails during a long overnight journey.

Can I wire these up to the existing rear light clusters or will that cause problems with the wiring system on these vans?

Stick with LED lights and should not be a problem as they draw so little power and provide amazing light.

I put a few holes in my rear bumper and strung some LED lights off the reverse light with no problem. I put 6 1W LEDs in and had no issues. also added a bunch of DIY recesed LEDs on the inside. inside of the van is super bright now and again no issues. the LEDs add so little draw the van does not even "know" they are there.
