Going to swap a low mileage 2002 motor/ trans into my 2003 2500 as a cheaper temporary solution to my blown engine problem.

Is there any major difference between those two model years that I should be made aware of?

2002 and 2003 are the same and should just bolt right up.

You may have issues with the ECU if not also taking off every sensor from the 2003 and putting it on the new engine ...I don't know for sure. Replacing all mechanical parts should not be a problem, as they are identical.

Assuming they are both om612 it would just be a straight swap and keep your existing ecu. You may need to code the injectors though if they are coming with the new engine. Have you established what blew your old engine? It would suck to blow another due to a bad injector.

Edit oh and with the trans you should swap the trans ecu to keep it with the same trans. Otherwise all of the teach-in adjustments its learned will be wrong.

OM612 doesn't need to have the injectors coded for it to run, luckily.

OK. But its worth noting that the injectors do require coding in the ROW t1n sprinters.
