View Full Version : how to replace bottom roller bearing on sliding door?

have a 57 plate sprinter van and the bottom roller bearing on the side door has broken, trying to work out how to replace it? and how to remove the side running board to access it?

If you take a look at your step you will notice 2 fairly obvious snap on plastic covers over a couple of Torx head bolts. They are T27 or T30 if memory serves me. I'll find out tomorrow when I go to replace my roller.

After you get them out, take a really close look at the actual tread itself, there are another 5 or 6 more Torx bolts under some more plastic caps. These caps are very hard to see. I pry them out with a fine point dental pick. If your step is dirty you probably won't see them.

Once you have all the bolts out the whole step/tread comes out without resistance. If it does not come up easily you have missed a bolt. The roller track is mounted to the underside. Clean any dirt or debris out of it and reverse the process to install.

thanks for your reply, managed to get the step out and had a look at what is wrong.
the roller bearing has broken so found and bought this part on ebay
