Glow Plug light indicator

Hi

I have a 2003 Freightliner Sprinter, its new to me so I don't know much about it yet. Recently my glow plug indicator light has been staying on while the engine is running. It works normal when you first turn the key, it comes one for a few seconds and turns off, I start the engine and after a second or two it comes back on and stay on for the entire time the vehicle is running. What could be the cause of this and it this something I should be worried about and deal with immediately.

...definitely get it checked out.

It almost certainly means one or more of your glowplugs is out to lunch.

The good news: they're cheap, about £15 each.

The potential bad news: sometimes they can be difficult to remove from the head.

If I'm right, a diagnostic will pin point which one(s) are causing the problem.

Shop around at dealers (if thats where you are going to go) for a diagnostic. The one that I baught the van from (Varsity) charges 90 bucks for JUST a diagnostic. I hung up after hearing that, and phoned another. They told me something else, they knew what the problem was, they didnt need to hook computers up.
