Misfire and smoking

Hi,

I have a '00 313cdi. the engine is misfiring and smoking, I've had the turbo and injectors checked and it's not the H/G either. Could it be an electrical problem? Any help much appreciated...

At least on the OM647, the firing of the injectors depend on hall effect sensor detecting the four notches off the camshaft position sensor. I forgot if there's a crankshaft position sensor, but if there is it's another sensor to look at.
