I recently completed this mod in my 2013 Sprinter. The Sound 5 radio can be modified to accept MP3 audio input via an OEM AUX cable connector. The AUX cable connector is MB part number B6656017 and costs about $60 from the dealer, and is referred to as the aux mounting kit. Once the AUX cable connector is installed to the back of the radio unit (there are several other forum posts that show how to do this and how to route the AUX cable to the front of the dash), the Sound 5 auxiliary input mode must be enabled. Follow the instructions on this video to enable the Sound 5 radio to play MP3 audio input via the AUX cable connector:

That is great info. Just about any part purchased from an MB dealer is obscenely priced. In my case I read several posts about generic cables that didn't work and since I had a big road trip pending and limited to time to install the cable I didn't want to risk buying any part that may not have worked. If your cable installation worked successfully please post the link to the part so that others may benefit from your efforts. Thank you.

It's quite a simple mod that can be done without buying expensive cables and booking expensive dealer labour time.
Glad you found it useful. Here are my audio mod details.

Here is the cable I recently bought:

On 2 T1N's I had and probably on my other NCV3 I used / will use a scrap mini plug from some old device or headphone. Just attach 3 female mini spade connectors then slip them onto the appropriate spades on the back of the Sound 5 radio. Easy, peasy and free!
