Has to do with hose ID at the fitting. It changed somewhere along the line. At least I remember seeing that somewhere.
That is true with the Type A vs Type B listed by Europarts for the OM612 engines.
What I haven't been able to positively identify is what Dodge or MB part number correlates to which turbo related hose. Turbo to charge air cooler inlet (OM612 Style A or B) or Turbo Resonator to Charge Air Cooler inlet (OM647).
Maybe the point is moot because if you go to a dealership then they use your VIN to look up the part anyway. It just seems that the info should be more readily available than it has been for my searching. vic

There are two types of lower turbo side hoses of different diameter. Europarts calls them Style A and Style B. Selection info is here:
Eurpoparts lists Turbo to Charge Air inlet 2002 - 2003 Type B at $53.46
(check the inside diameter on the intercooler end. This hose has an I.D. of 54 mm, or approximately 2 1/8")
