I searched for this also.

I'd like to confirm that MB will cover the cost (parts and labor) for the bearing to be replaced.

I found a memo/TSB from MB posted here a while back. When I mentioned it to a Freightliner dealer they said that the illustration in the TSB shows a shorter wheelbase Sprinter with a two (2) piece driveshaft and therefore our 2008 3500 cab-chassis would _not_ be covered.

Any advice/info/input?

Thank you.

I got mine done twice under warranty, three piece shaft. The current one has outlasted both predecessors.

Excellent!

Is there a special bulletin/TSB/memo from MB that I can refer to when talking to the service manager?

Is there something different about the latest bearing you got?

I don't know if the part has changed, so can't comment.

Looking at the warranty documentation from Daimler's EVA vehicle information system for both occasions it states:

Damage code: 041058367 Drive shaft, transmission, intermediate bearing
Damage code: 041059367 Propeller shaft intermediate bearing rear axle

I don't have the TSB data but the issue is well documented so I don't know why the dealer would take the view it's not applicable to two piece shafts.

Just to be clear, the dealer (Freightliner of Hagerstown, MD) said that the TSB only applies to 2 piece driveshafts, not the 3 piece ones.

Could very well be bs, but that's what I was told.
