I have a 2008 Sprinter 3500 that intermittently displays the check engine. The code is P0544 (Exhaust Gas Temp. Sensor). Can anyone advise if this is an easy fix and where can I locate a diagram to determine where the sensor is located. I had the EGR valve replaced one year ago (10,000 miles).

What Year Sprinter (this is really important to know - please add that information in your User CP - in the blue line above)?

How did you get this PCode? from a generic ODBII Code Reader or from a Dealer Code Reader?
If it's from a generic reader, the error message may be meaningless.

I did a Search on P0544:

It may be a clogged/dirty EGR valve. There are writeups on how to clean them on this site.

For some reason the only NAFTA EGR valves that don't clog up often are on the 2004 thru 2006 models - the rest have problems (but can be cleaned) if you let your Sprinter idle too much.

I had O'Reiley's read the code. Any recommendations for an honest mechanic in the Colorado Springs area?

Had this code about 3 months ago. The O2 sensor was defective on the port side exhaust.... that's the pass. side. MB Boerne diagnosed it and replaced it. The DPF was also 40% clogged and would not self clean. A manual regen was necessary. So... hundreds of bucks later... it's working.

My take away is that ... Yes! a borrowed Scan Gauge identified the basic problem. It would not clear the code... probably because the fault continued...

Yes, I think you can do it yourself as the O2 sensor is not hard to get to.

You might have other issues that need attention.

I always thought that "port side" was "left"??
As a Texas Sprinter, your passengers are on the vehicle's right side.
