I have been replacing broken parts on my 04 Sprinter 2500 that I purchased last October. I am now down to my last few. I have been able to find official names to some using the 04 service manual and parts list, but not having any luck with the following:

Locking knob: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=739
This doesn't show up on the parts list and It's missing from my sliding door.

Shift lever frame trim: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=738
This shows up in the parts list, but has no number (not serviced).

Rubber mat plugs: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=737
Was this purposely cut out? Last resort is to cut and bevel and paint some wood or shape a piece of rubber.

Ashtray replacement? http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=740
I would like to replace all side ashtrays with cupholders. Any ideas?

Door latch striker plate plugs: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=741
Do plugs exist for these?

Wiper hose clip: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=742
I was thinking about taking all the good parts from my left wiper and just buy a new wiper assembly. They are expensive though ($40?).

Turbo cover? http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=743
Do I need it?

Foam cover under the hood: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=148&pictureid=744
I still have the foam cover, but it is torn. Do I even need it?

Right now, I get all of my parts from allmoparparts.com, ebay.com or amazon.com.

If you know of any other sites that are cheaper, please share! After months of research, those are the cheapest I have found so far.

I appreciate any help - thanks!

I think the turbo cover is referred to as a "heat shield"

Did you paint your floor mats? If so please tell what you used... the floor mats in my passenger '02 are pretty grimy.

Thanks,

John

I used black plastic zip ties (not too tight) to replace the missing wiper hose clips on mine.

John,

I used Valspar, oil based paint from Lowes: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=149&pictureid=746

This is what the mat looked like while painting: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=149&pictureid=747

This is the finished interior: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=149&pictureid=745

I have painted everything but the roof lining. I'll post before and after pics when I am done.

Very clean. VERY nice. Unfortunately, with 7 kids, my clean Sprinter floor doesn't stay clean for long...

I would replace the turbo cover (heat shield); it is there for a reason. The two holes behind the drivers seat are for mounting the fire extinguisher holder. My 03 came through with holder but no fire extinguisher. Many people have removed the holder so one is probably available. I had no luck finding an extinguisher that would fit this holder. Hope this helps.

That holder behind the driver's seat in my 2005 was for the triangle shaped safety reflectors required to be displayed in Europe when you are parked on the shoulder (due to flat tire etc). The fire extinguisher bracket was down in the drivers side wheel well. I removed both since they were much in the way. A proper sized fire extinguisher is a good item to have in a vehicle. There may be a better place to mount it than the drivers foot well? I'd like to find it.

That's a tough location to beat for accessibility. If you're going to carry a fire extinguisher, and I think that is a good idea, then that location is probably as good as it gets. vic

Thanks! I have 6 kids myself. Thankfully, the floors are rubber and easy to clean!

Thanks! I try to take pictures for everything, it's just easier that way.

Good idea. I found all the replacement parts for the turbo shield and I'll get a small fire extinguisher to mount behind the driver's seat.

So far, this is the status:

Locking knob: Still can't find it.

Shift lever frame trim: Still can't find it.

Rubber mat plugs: Still no idea, but I'll just mold a piece of rubber to hide it.

Ashtray replacement? No answer. They are useless in a car full of kids.

Door latch striker plate plugs: No answer.

Wiper hose clip: I'll just purchase a replacement wiper and transfer the good parts to the other wiper.

Turbo cover: I will purchase a replacement heat shield.

Foam cover under the hood: No answer.

The Sprinter salesman told me it was for a fire extinguisher. We removed the holder (pass version) because we did not want kids to fall on the metal edge. I would love to find an orange triangle for my holder; I break down all the time.
