cold engine

I have been reading and learning from this forum since we bought our 2003 sprinter 2500 in 2010. I have a couple of questions and a request.

The first question is easy, i'm sure, what size is the oil filter wrench? And do you turn with the arrow (which is pointing to the right) to remove it? Why would the arrow tell you how to put it back on, right? This is what we were thinking.

The second question is a little more involved, maybe. When we start the van in the morning and put it in gear (reverse or drive), the van sounds like it's revving high, with very little power, then we drive down the road a bit and it clears up.

The request would be for a post for the service manual. i have seen it on here in past posts but the links are dead.

Thank you for whatever help you have to offer.

Steve do a search the link is here for the service manual.

My ncv3 does the same thing when cold it revs high but has power. Then once it warms up it changes gears faster. I would prefer the higher rev all the time.

The service manual is here: http://aie-services-2.net/Sprinter/

You want the "2003SprinterManuals.zip"

You could be suffering from a slightly low amount of transmission fluid.
Check around the transmission for a slow leak from where the wiring enters it.
A consistent problem with T1N's is that the O-ring on that connector deteriorates and starts seeping.
