Hi everyone.

Hopefully this is a "simple" oil question. :smirk: I can't find Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic Euro Motor Oil on BEVO. When searching here I've seen it mentioned quite a few times. Is my old butt simply not capable of properly searching BEVO or is it no longer approved?

My old butt didn't see it under MB229.51 Bevo either.

The description calls out the MB 229.51 on their site though, along with the companion similar VW specs. There is an "except BlueTEC engines comment. That seems odd...

Edit: The oil does come in 5w-30 and 5w-40 so maybe that has something to do with the BlueTEC comment? I'm guessin' though.

BEVO may be the Bible to some, but I don't believe it is infallible.

Perhaps contact the MB customer service. They are generally responsive. vic

Thanks for the information. I'll reach out to MB and share my findings.

I thought the specs ending in 1 were specifically not for T1Ns.

I thought the specs ending in 1 were specifically not for T1Ns.

This is a common mistake. now MB228.31 is not recommended for T1Ns,
but 229.31, 229.51 and 228.51 ARE ! so is 229.52 recommended

NOTthat you asked but FWIW I just found out that:
There are just 3 oils made in the world which are approved for any and all diesel SPRINTERs,
meeting the latest oil spec 229.52 for ENGINES OM642, OM611, OM612, OM647, and they are
1.Mercedes-Benz PKW Synthetic
2. Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30
And 3. Mobil Super 3000 XE Formula M 0W-30

The oils MB approves today are at MB BEVO's 223.2 here : http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolistenmain.php?content_action=showselect&navigation_path=bevolisten&language_id=0&blatt=223.2&suchbegriff=

I'd hate to think what those cost.:bash:

I suspect Conoco-Phillips paid once for approval testing at MB , and thought it would put Kendall on the list permanently.
I doubt that Kendall's Euro oil has changed formula and should be good to continue using IMHO :shhh:

Thanks for the pdf Nelson. I agree the Kendall oil should be just fine. As convulated as MB's oil specs are it's, in a weird way, kind of fun.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I agree it's not infallible. In fact, I think I've used "an approved engine oil" once.

I just cite bevo when people are freaking out, looking a knowledge resource they feel they can trust.

Many MB purists on other forums tout bevo.

Bevo gives some people comfort just by seeing "mercedes-benz.com" in the URL.

I think MB customer service uses a very similar, if not identical list, published internally by Daimler.
