I'm going to look at a 2006 118wb passenger van in a few days. Its a long way for me to go to look at a van so I want to look it over and decide to buy it or walk away right on the spot. Can anybody give me any particular things that I should look out for? I've seen pictures and rust looks to be reasonable/minimal. The seller says it has a new glow plug and glow plug adapter and two new power steering lines.

Thanks in advance,

JL

Read up on black death and how to spot it.
One guess is that the power steering lines reflect a lot of in town driving. I used to think that was a bad thing. I recently saw an engine torn apart at 530,000m. It still had the honing marks on the cylinder walls. It was all city driving.

Where are you located? Maybe there is someone near you that you can talk to (or let you see some things on their Sprinter).

I'm in Southern Minnesota. The van has just over 100k miles on it and is located in the Rockies so I was going to make a ski trip out of it.

Definitely check for "BLACK DEATH". If you don't, you'll be sorry.

Best thing You can do is take it for a drive if it moves and make it more than 10 miles using everything it comes with, look underneath it later and check for leaks and damage/play, there isn't much You can do beyond that on the mechanical part and if You like it buy it.
