I have had a trans fluid leak for some time, and it has slowly been getting worse, I initially though it was the pan gasket and replaced that, but that was not it, I also found one instance of a guy here stating he had a leak where the shift rod goes through the body of the trans (http://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19907), I thought that may have been my issue, but I had fluid notably further forward on the trans from that point.

It turns out the banjo bolt that hold the trans fluid cooler line to the trans was not tight, it was actually quite loose, not finger tight/loose, but when I put a 19mm socket on it I got about 1 full turn out of it.

Here is a before picture of the trans (yea, my finger is in the pic) and you can see it is quite wet,

And here is the banjo bolt that was loose, I will be keeping an eye on it for the next couple hundred miles to make sure that was indeed the source, hard to believe it wasn't considering how loose it was...

Drivers side of trans just on front of the trans fluid pan,

Hope this helps!
