Brake parts in Canada...Dodge how can you charge so much

Got a quote for a full set of brake parts (rotors, pads, front-rear) from the local Dodge/Chrysler dealer. $1,600 + taxes.

Local Mercedes dealer? $643 + taxes.

Europarts? $365, INCLUDING shipping.

How can Dodge/Chrysler charge almost three times as much as Mercedes and more than four times as much as Europarts for the same items? I don't mind paying a couple hundred $ for the "buying in Canada premium" and not having to drive over the border but this is ridiculous.

That's one really greedy Dodge dealer! :yell:
I have always bought my Sprinter parts through the local Dodge dealer and they are always less than any price I can find online. :clapping:

The few times I took my Sprinter to the dealer, except for warranty work, they were 2-3 times as expensive as the local shop. That shop worked on Sprinters for a local casino and had a MB-trained mechanic.

Entirely possible your Dodge dealer does not want to work on Sprinters. They make Dodge diesels look bad: 15K oil change vs 3000 miles, as an example.

I think this is Chrysler / Dodge Canada standard retail pricing. Here we are used to paying a 30% premium over US prices on most things but a 300% premium is really pushing it. This was just parts, labour not included.

Dodge dealershpis don't get to forge their own relationship with parts suppliers. They all eat from the same menu.

Motivated members should call around to see if this dealership is way out of the norm, or if this is standard pricing from Chrysler's parts suppliers - set by "agreed upon pricing schedules" and written into the contract du jour.

It wouldn't surprise me if Chrysler was unable to get a good price from Daimler any more; it wouldn't surpise me if Chrysler doesn't want to warehouse Sprinter parts at their depots any more; it wouldn't surprise me if a Chrysler executive team decided that pricing things way out there is a good way to encourage Sprinter owners to go somewhere else so they don't have to be in the Sprinter business any more.

They can be bought online for my Sprinter for under $200 shipping included, although of poorer quality than Europarts, I've used them for 2 years with only brake dust to complain of.
I assume the $1600 + was for installation included?

heck no, that was just parts, no labour.....

it was around $196 per brake for pads, $180 per rotor, then the springs clips ($30/clip!) and sensors rounded out the gouging.
