View Full Version : Battery Follow Up Question

Now that I am sure I need a new battery with the voltage check being bad, do I need to replace both batteries? - mine has an extra battery under the passenger seat, and if so HOW do you get the one from under the seat out? What is it's purpose - to add extra amps to the system or just to power aux systems?
Thanks so much

or just to power aux systems?

Correct. No reason for it to affect your starting. It can be set up to help as a jump battery, but if it is OEM the system doesn't come with that feature. vic

Thanks for info! Since they are both OEM the aux is probably due to to replaced also then wouldn't you think? After I get it back running with the under hood battery maybe I will look to replace it and possibly work on that ability to jump start with it. Do I have to remove the seat or how do you remove the aux battery?
Thanks again!

You may just need to remove the lower cushion? Check post #97 here. vic

Mixing batteries of different ages int he same charging circuit is not good practice. The old ones will tend to suck the old ones down, that is unless there is a proper battery isolator.

The OEM set up does have an isolator built into it.
