I own 2 Sprinters. A 2005 with the 2.7 engine and a 2011 Mercedes. My question is, does anyone know of an affordable engine dianostic tool I can use when my check engine light comes on? I live in a fairly rural area. 40 miles to nearest Dodge Dealer and 140 miles to nearest Mercedes. My local mechanic tells me his dianostic scanners do not work on either of these engines and its way too expensive to purchase one just for my Vans.

Thanks.

Use the "search" button in the blue bar above. There are lots of posts about what does and doesn't work. And I'll tell you, the "does work" list is short and mainly expensive.
... but not prohibitive, if you count the cost of having to go to the stealership every time you need your codes read. Think of it as an investment.
