There had been a great Sprinter History site online but it seems to be hard to track down now.

The museum pages are very interesting either way and maybe the Sprinter specific stuff is buried in there somewhere!

This is the source of all US Sprinters, both the cargo kits sent to Gaffney (and for 2007 forward the new plant north of Charleston, SC) and passenger models. There are some disparaging remarks that I have seen on some searches indicating that the productivity of this plant is low.
