Nissan sold 1238 NV vans in November, so it might be becoming a contender.

However, around thanksgiving I saw ads for 4500 off msrp for any NV van, which means that you could have gotten the cheapest one for 20,500 plus taxes, etc.

In fact they still are:

MY EYES! MY EYES!!

It is a serious contender. Most folks purchase items by how much cash they have in their pockets as their first consideration (or only). BUT... more importantly... looks like 1) Nissan is/will flood the market to get presence with discounted vehicles. and 2) THEY ARE ADVERTISING! I hear radio ads now for these vans on every sports show I listen to. And, I've never heard nor seen an advert for a Sprinter.

The dreaded cross post:

I had to go find this quote from pickups.com, (this is the reason for my continuing interest):
"Although Nissan previously announced that it’s partnering with contract diesel engine manufacturer Cummins and German supplier ZF to develop and build two diesel engines and a six-speed automatic transmission, the oil burning powertrains won’t be available when the vans first arrive."

Orion, If Nissan is going to "flood the maket w/discounted vehicles", consumers like us would not lose. The LA times has print adds on a regular basis for sprinters.
