vibration

Hi all,
My sprinter 310d 2.9 1998 has just developed vibration when hard acceleration, mosty over 40-45mph. This happened after i ran over a bloody big pipe on the motorway, could this be a cv joint or something more serious like the flywheel/propshaft?

Help much appreciated...

Wheel alignment may be required/damaged ball joints - 3mil maximum allowance. Front suspension frame may be off center I doubt it.

Thanks for the reply, Just not sure if it was related to running over the pipe, as shes now done 315000! Ball joints i could handle flywheel would break the bank at the moment. Just wondering, as just checked this morning it seems to shudder a bit on idle.

Check Power steering fluid level , three capos below max and you will have shiuddering at idele especially on turns and at differnt speeds at speed where off road cambers are a tad off.

I'm speculating but been there, and done it.

Albathebrave.
Please give a bit more information on this pipe, desribe what happened in detail. Eric
It was a square type pipe which didn't move from the ground, as i ran over it with both driver side front and back tyres. I know your thinking but it didn't rattle under my van at all. Thanks

yike... at first glance I thought I read bloody bag pipe... maybe the player is tapping on you undercarriage...

a jolt like that could loosen/break older engine mounts. Hence vibration at startup/idle.
