Bloody back door lock.

I've just finished my conversion for my MK1 sprinter and yesterday i get down the beach to go kitesurfing and i can't get in through the back door into my garage area where all my kit is.
Door not opening on the central locking and of course my key doesn't unlock the door either. My conversion means that you can not reach the baqck door from inside without destroying alot of the internal walls! :yell:
Any good suggestion for how to get in? It sounds like the central locking is still working but not engaging the lock.
I am guessing i may be able to access the internal lever by destroying the off side light cluster or i could drill out the lock. Both are undesirable so if anyone has any nifty suggestions i am all ears.

I had a problem with mine not locking every once in a while. I found that you could push in by the hinge side of the door and make it engage the electrode so the lock would work. You may try that, give it a good firm 2 handed push by the hinges.

Good Luck

Just tried this. No luck unfortunately but thanks.
With regard to the contacts, i am pretty sure they are good because you can hear the solenoid for the central locking on the rear door working when the key is turned. By an assistant of course)

Maybe push on the doors off and on while someone operates the lock button? Move the van to another spot in case the door or something inside is wedged or binding? The frame on our Sprinters is pretty flexy.

If that doesn't work then maybe you can do the screwdriver trick (drill it though) and buy or make an armorplate to cover the damage. Pretty extreme solution though. I don't want to bring the link/procedure back for any ner-do-wells. Using the search word "scroats" will get you to the thread last hit post #8. Good luck. vic

Ok right i decided that the easiest way to break in was to squeeze in through the cupboard under the sink and cut out the back wall of the cooker unit. Wasn't sure if i would have to employ the help of my mates son as it was gonna be a tight fit.
Managed to get the back wall out after much :bash: ing and :yell:

So here's my route in.

and in the gloom you can just about see the back door.

I had also recently fitted a protective cover over my amps (grey sheet) which of course made the gap even smaller.

and then what do i find?????

:censored:
my fooking lightwind kiteboard that only just fits had wedged itself between the back wall of the shower room and yes the door opening latch!!! :yell:

So moved offending board opened door and emerged much to my mates amusment .
Right time for a celebratory . Shut the door behind me forgetting about the surfboard and promptly locked myself out again!
Still a minor issue to squeeze back in again, after the beer of course.

Ah-h... the evils of drink got you. Sounds like something I'd do.

Now you need to put some wire barrier on that through the equipment entry. You don't want some Wizard of Oz Munchkin typw thief getting into your stuff. Glad it worked out without any damage. Thanks for the story. vic
