I installed a Curt hitch and trailer brake controller on my 2011 170. I towed my smallish 7x12 enclosed trailer around town moving stuff. I didn't see any tow/haul buttons for more aggressive shift points. Do these vans have a setting like that? Mine shifts up very early, even with a trailer, unless I'm heavy on the throttle. If I turn off the traction control (AVS?), will that give me more torque and better accelleration?:idunno:

I downshift to 3rd for city driving with heavy trailer.

Sorry, no tow/haul switch or settings on a Sprinter with the NAG1 transmission.
You can however shift manually.
Suggest you shift up @ 3000-3200 RPM.
Start out in 1st or 2nd, and shift up to keep the revs > 2000.
This will keep you up in the top of the max torque range without the drops to < 2000 RPM.
With a light trailer (< 3000 lbs.) it may not make alot of difference unless you have significant
uphill/downhill grades to deal with.
Around town, run in the lower gears (3rd and 4th) and you should get better performance/acceleration as well as possible better mileage.
