replacement shocks

Just wondering if anyone has tried the Monroe severe service, or the Bilsteins.
Also, are the rear shocks on a 2500 cargo the same as the rear shocks on a 2500 passenger? Thanks, John

I am in need of new rear shocks for my 2004 passenger 2500 soon. I priced out OEM from Dodge and the rear shocks are $57 each. The front struts are $202 each. Has anyone changed the front ones and if so was it fairly easy?
STRUT REMOVAL
(1) On the drivers side remove the floor covering
off to the side.
(2) On the passengers side take off the cover for
the tools.
(3) Remove the cover for the upper strut mounting
(Fig. 12).
(4) Remove the nut on the upper strut mounting
(Fig. 12).
(5) Raise and support the vehicle.
(6) Remove the front wheels.
(7) Raise the lower control arm approximately 10
mm with a jack to remove the tension from the strut.
(8) Remove the strut from the steering knuckle
(Fig. 12).
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Hand tighten the strut upper mounting nut
until the vehicle is on the ground, otherwise the
bushings may become distorted.
(1) Install strut to the steering knuckle (Fig. 12).
Tighten to 185 N·m (136 ft. lbs.).
(2) Raise the lower control to install the upper
part of the strut into the footwell. Tighten to 100
N·m (74 ft. lbs.).
(3) Install wheels (Refer to 22 - TIRES/WHEELS/
WHEELS - INSTALLATION).
(4) Lower the vehicle.
(5) Install the nut covers (Fig. 12).
(6) Refit the floor covering and the tool cover.

Hey Guys,
I replaced mine with the Monroe Severe Service ones. I was runnning the OEM Benz ones with 107k miles. The rears were gone, but the fronts were still pretty good. Installation was a pretty easy. ( If yo have an impact wrench :))
As for the Monroe Severe Service struts & shock so far so good and the price is right.

Andy which series Monroe did you use?
I'm close to changing mine because the rear drops just a tad under full loads I was thinking of Gas Rider to keep the back level with the front as the steering on cornering as it is a little too light, for my liking. That way I can adjust for ride levels to compensate for weight variations.
Adding ironman Load+plus secondary short springs will give me a better suspension stabilizer system without changing over to a larger stabilizer bar.

Hey Richard,
I installed the Monroe 550019's in the rear and the 553002 struts in the front. If I'm not mistaken I didn't think there was any other choices in the Monroe's.
