door hinge lube

I have looked, and found recomended lubricants, but have not found the actual physical means of doing the job. Just looking at the front door hinge, for example, is there something to remove to put the stuff in, or do I press a glob all 'round, hope it goes in somewheres, and wipe of the rest? I have a 114" with standard hinges. There are two fang holes in one hinge leaf, is that a point of entry, if not, glob and press here too? Thanks to respondants, hope there is some simple stupid thing that everybody else knows but dumb ass I.

Hi Fredball,
So what is the recommended lubricant you found. Where did you find
the recommendations?
I used TC-11 spray lube/protectant on my T1N with good success.
Pricey, but it lasts a long time, and really stops rust.
I even used it on some of the exterior rust spots and it seemed to
stop them from growind.
