Knapheide Find a dealer at http://www.knapheide.com. When you call, make sure to ask at least two questions. (1) Does this bumper fit only Knapheide Bodies for chassis Sprinters or is it a "frame" mount similar to the existing bumper or the hitch mounts; and (2) if the answer is frame mounting to question no. 1, whether the chassis Sprinter's mounting dimensions are different from the van version of the Sprinter.

Go Rhino: These mount into the hitch receiver. The product is made of light tubing. Pop off the plastic ends and fill with scrap pipe, construction glue and expanding foam to sturdy it up and quiet the fill material.

Search "hitch step". A simple solution if you have a hitch is to bolt a 1/4" x 6" flatbar to the top of the hitch tube. Step can be located under the first door opened and not on the vehicle centerline. I have used my 4" wide step for a year or so and it works. I have found it to be too narrow so will probably change it to 6"wide.

The real step bumper can work with hitches, spares. And it is only about $175 new.

I really like the Superbumper & Sparebumper products, because they're designed to absorb the energy of a minor rear end collision and act as a step if required.

After a few years of worrying about breaking my leg entering or exiting the van, I rigged up some expanded metal for a step. Also makes a good seat.

Looks nice.

A seat?

My advice.
Get a Girl Scout to make you a Sit-upon or it won't take long for you to be plagued with Waffle Ass. Older humans are particularly susceptible.

My 3500 has rear higher than average, so single step is not working for me.
I adopted old campers steps for it.
