Help..Limp Mode

I have a 2003 3500 Sprinter Van. About 6 months ago it started going into limp mode. There was never a warning light and it occured about once a week. It has been to the local Dodge dealership twice. The last time I paid over $1000 and immediately upon leaving it went into limp mode. The Van now goes into limp mode almost daily. The dealership now tells me they aren't sure but suggest replacing the entire turbo. I have read posts regarding a resonator but my understanding is that the 2003 doesn't have one. I live in CA and I would appreciate any suggestions/directions. Any recomendations for finding experienced repair facility would also be appreciated.

CA is big. You might want to put a ZIP Code and City in your post. I would say, look for a Freightliner or MB Dealer that services Sprinter ...

A few things that will cause the 2002-2003 sprinter to go into limp mode without kicking on the check engine lite, 1-the EGR valve and/or the Maf Sensor is not responding and needs to be replaced, or 2-there is a leak in the Charge Air Cooler system, the CAC system needs to pressure tested to 30Lbs pressure to locate the leak, it could be leaking at the Charge Air Cooler or there is a leak on one of the CAC rubber hoses. If it were the EGR valve or Maf sensor the vehicle wouldn't be driveable. Your driving the vehicle daily and I guess that when ever the vehicle goes into limp mode when you turn off the engine and restart and the vehicle will run ok for a while. I've seen Charge Air Cooler that will leak when the boost pressure reaches around 25lbs.
