Greetings Everyone,

The 5th Annual NW SprinterFest will be held on Saturday April 17th, 2010. This year will feature RV conversions done by van owners. Sprinter owners from all over the West Coast have indicated they will bring their pride and joys for all to see and share. Ideas will abound!! And like last year...we'll have a pot luck with the grills fired up for some good old fashion home cookin'. The event will be held in our parking lot, will start at 10:00am and will go until we're done (4:00pm or so). So come join us and share in some Sprinter camaraderie!

And remember, There's A Lot To Our Dot, so visit http://sprinterstore.com/ to see the newest products and accessories we have to offer. Auxiliary fuel tanks, full hood bras and more. If you have any questions, please give us a call and we will be happy to help.

Thank you, John

It's in my schedule book. Although know I feel committed to getting the paneling done in my van, and I am broke .

Not to hijack the thread, but you'd mentioned a possibility of a lay off in another thread.

Did it happen to you?

We will be there until noon or 1, then we head south to yet another meeting or 2.

I finally have the Wallas diesel stove operational, and will work on a write up soon. But, you can all check it out at SprinterFest.

Fortunately I made it threw the most recent cuts. Still employed thank goodness ..... but still broke. $$$ comes in one end and just gets spit back out on the other end :yell:.

The primary invitation says Saturday, April 17th (and the 17th is a Saturday, so it's consistent)

Finished conversions or not, come one come all. It will be fun no matter what stage your conversion is in. Jef, looking forward to seeing your Wallas stove install.

BTW, my original e-mail did say the 18th but I screwed up. It is definitely Saturday the 17th of April…sorry for the confusion.

Hmmmm.... possibilities....

last time it was dessert pie...

but, i'm open to a hot baked dinner pie... someone will need to bring an oven... or maybe John has an oven...

That would be worth the 900+ mile drive.

No oven, just a Microwave, a grill and lots of fun.

John,

Can we arrive Friday afternoon and dry-camp there? Alternatively, any boondocking recommendations will be appreciated.

boondock
There's a very pleasant Washington State campground ("Seaquest") just east of Castle Rock on State Route 504.

There's another state campground ("Paradise Point") , but it's very close to I-5 at the exit south of Woodland.

have fun
--dick (conflicting schedules will probably prevent my attendance)
p.s. I wonder if you could boondock in the McCoy Freightliner service queue? :shhh:

Dry camping on our lot will not be a problem and if you need to stay a couple of days that will work to. It looks like we will have several people doing this. Our customers dry camp all the time. In fact, we have a View and a Vista Mini Cruiser staying tonight. Hope to see you all of you there!!

My house is right off of I-205 just north of Portland and plenty of street parking space, so if any sprinter people want to camp at my house and join us for dinner that would be fine. I usually start my fryer up and fry food that goes into my WVO filtering on Friday's.

PM me if you are interested.

I can't quote Paula Deen verbatim, but she did a show once that included a candy shop. As she buzzed around sampling everything in sight she finally quipped, "They shoulda known better than to let a fat girl loose in a candy store.". Gotta love Paula.

3 days and counting to the 5th Annual SprinterFest! The weather looks good so…are you ready!!! Yes, we’ll have the grill going for Hal. McCoy Freightliner will have a 2010 Sprinter for us to get our little paws on and test drive. And, we will have a couple of special treats. An Earthroamer excursion vehicle and Tom’s 4wd Sprinter!! There will be lot of folks attending. Many new Sprinter owners and some that have just ordered a new Sprinter but have not taken possession yet. They will be very excited to talk and learn about their new purchase. You old timers will need to step up and answer all their questions. So grab your favorite food, drink (and of course your Sprinter) and come on down. BTW, for those who don’t know, the Fest will be held at our shop this Saturday the 17th from 10:00am until were done (see the address below or give us a call for directions).

See ya there, John

Yes ..... Thanks sprinter store for hosting this event. It was great to put faces coupled with sprinter-forum member names. I felt like my van was no match for all the van conversions at the event ..... but it was great to see that sprinters can be more than just a big "contractor looking van".

A big thanks to John and Karen!

There were over 30 Sprinters in attendence this year.

As others have said, it was great to put faces to names and see some pretty imaginative modifications (RV/campers).

OrioN and Buster live full time in a Sprinter-in-progress. That's as hard core as I can imagine.

The food and the conversation were great.

John had just finished putting in one of his aux fuel tanks into a behmoth of a Sprinter RV.

This RV belongs to a great guy named, Chip. The rig was on jack stands so anyone was welcome to take a creeper and review the art and science of John's custom-fabricated fuel extra tank.

Troy from McCoy Freightliner brought a 2010 2500 cargo van for everyone to paw and maul.

Parties like this don't just happen. The community really needs this kind of gathering to share information, meet really cool people, share stories, solve problems and have a great time.

Karen and John Bendit spent a lot of time and energy putting this together: food, shop clean up, tables, stickers, printing up forms to fill out and place on the windshield so everyone knows who owns which Sprinter.

If you're passing Tualatin, OR on I5, you owe it to yourself to stop in and say hi. John's got a lot of experience, a lot of hand-made, custom products and raw talent; all things that can make owning your Sprinter less of a mystery and more of a pleasure.

-Jon

PS: I haven't had time to edit/compress the 171 MB of 30 pictures I took. It'll be a while, but I'll try to put them up.

just got home from a 3.5 hour drive. i set the cruise control at 61 and pretty much kept it there. i managed 20.2mpg on the trip down, and 21 even on the trip back. it was fun, even my darling wife enjoyed looking at all the different ways a sprinter can be upfitted. thanks john and kathy for hosting this event, i was glad we made it down.

This year’s SprinterFest was exceptional! A big thank you to all who attended, bringing their favorite food for the potluck and their Sprinters for all to see. We had 39 Sprinters of all shapes and sizes and a guess-ta-mate of 80-100 people throughout the day. A wide variety of people attended from a couple that had just ordered their Sprinter to people just beginning their conversion to owners that had just finished their conversions. And as usual, there was picture taking and idea sharing galore with lots of food that disappeared by the end of the day.

Karen and I would like to thank those who made it all happen;
Mike Hiscox for registration and window stickers for each Sprinter
Troy Gibson from McCoy Freightliner for supplying a 2010 144” 2500 high roof cargo for us to look over
Jon Caples and OrioN for set up and tear down
Bob Sorrentino for helping get set up and for manning the grill
Chip for letting us put his 2010 Fleetwood Pulse on stands so we could check out his suspension and auxiliary fuel tank up-grades.
Tom Tasso for lending us his 2006 140” 2500SHC 4wd Sprinter
And our staff for their hard work preparing for the event

Attached are a few pictures to show the great fun we had. Each year brings changes and we have some great ideas to make next years SprinterFest even better! Again, thank you to everyone that attended.
