Further research of these threads has lead me to discover that there are NO sunroof stampings for SHC vans, and I don't think a sunroof was offered as an option for SHC vans. Now I'll be selling my Mercedes factory sunroof and looking for a different ventilation method. Anyone who's interested can contact me off the forum berkeleyhandyman@aol.com

Too much snow this winter. The antenna broke off the housing and lay on its side still connected to the wires then it fell off while driving. I read that a replacement antenna can just be screwed into place. Looks like a nut was once in the housing. Does anyone know if this housing is still usable or do I replace it too? One wire is visible should there be another?

The antenna should still be good. You will need to replace the antenna base. It has a nut retaining the base, if you remove the interior light on the bulkhead you will see which wires to disconnect & you will see the nut that you need to remove. I purchased a replacement base (it has a amp. built into it) for a local guy who sells used parts. I think I paid about $10.00

I did not expect to see this. A little motherboard under the black base that holds the screw on antenna. It is apparent that the nut that holds the antenna is a special made attachment and the stray wire attaches somehow. I have a new antenna so maybe I just need the base. Any ideas where I could find the base alone?

I found and automotive 12v wire in my stash, stripped off a few long copper strands, wound them to the motherboard's stray wire. Inside the old base I superglued a metric nut until the antenna threads held it tight. The copper wire ran along the nut that holds the antenna and along the screw thread of the antenna. Then I pushed the wire into the base on the backside where there are no connections and put everything back. It works! AM and FM. The antenna seems straighter and higher so we'll see how long this will last. I'm still looking to replace the base, cause the special nut will hold better.

Maybe this would work as a replacement for a stock T1N antenna:
