Setting the clock - Sprinter-Forum

Is there a way to set the time in our '07 sprinter other than disconnecting the battery at midnight? I've tried everything. The manual directs us (page 101) to the clock/date submenu, but the "hour" and "minute" options do not exist. We have steering wheel buttons. Please help!

Refer to your owner's manual (page 168 in the 2008 manual) - make sure you are under 'Operating system with steering wheel buttons'. It is kind of tricky, but the directions work.

I followed the directions in my 2007 manual and they referred to submenus that did not exist. Has anyone else encountered this?

I also have a 2007 Sprinter. The printed owners manual that came with my Sprinter refered to some menu options that do not exist, so yes, I have encountered non-existent menus. The printed manual for 2007 is in direct conflict with the firmware that shipped in 2007 Sprinters.

The 2007 owners manual (pdf) in NCV3 database is updated, but I do not know that it is 100% accurate.

I'm nowhere near my Sprinter, so I can't talk you through it right now. Try downloading the PDF (updated) version of the owners manual and see if the instructions in there work.

Thanks for posting that manual. This manual appears to post the same instructions as our printed version, where the time/date submenu shows "hour" and "minute" options that do not exist in the vehicle. There is some mention of vehicles with "command aps" having to refer to the radio menu for instructions. Our vehicle does not seem to fall into that category. There is some confusion there as well. I'm ready to do the midnight battery thing!

I'm guessing you didn't buy it new. If that's true, are there any apparent aftermarket add-ons, electronic in nature?

It may be as simple as restoring the CCN ECU variant encoding (I don't actually know that means, btw), which - I think - might put the instrument cluster's CCN ECU (Cabin Compartment Node "computer") back to its original state, programming-wise.

Either way, the dealership's your best option for figuring out why you're missing options that the rest of us "steering wheel with buttons," enjoy.

I've got an '08 passenger version with the steering wheel buttons. The manual's not clear, so it took awhile - and some experimenting - to figure this out: you can get to some of those "nonexistent menus" by using the push-buttons on the right side of the instrument panel (as opposed to relying exclusively on the steering wheel buttons). Once you use these buttons to get to the menus, setting the clock is pretty straightforward.

I have set the clock in my 08 twice now, but the last time was quite a while ago, and not easy, i recall. I have never adjusted for daylight savings or for any other reason since.
I my opinion, that clock is way too small to read while driving. I mounted a battery powered analog clock in the headliner above the center console. Looks good, works without the key on, and is much easier to read the time with.
Unfortunately i never took a photo of that. Maybe tomorrow.

Just an update on this frustrating issue...the van was at the dealer (towed) for a no start. I asked them to set the clock and they could not. They said the the clock can only be set automatically through the GPS system (german) which was swapped out at the port. The van also has a Navigation screen that won't do anything. Is the dealer just making excuses, or is it really impossible to set the clock for ever. Navigation I can live without...doing mental math to subtract 2:27 from the time shown (for now) is getting old.

Although it won't help you right now I thought it worth mentioning on this thread that T1Ns equipped with tachographs can only have their clocks altered through adjustment of the tachograph and not at the dash.

There is a specific process to accomplish this task which I figured out how to do. Infact I showed the local dealership how it was done in the vehicle when I discovered they were taking vehicles to a third party workshop just for this reason.

Anyone can feel free to PM me for a "how to".
