Question Driver Side Internal Door Hinge Issue!

Hope to Get Some Help!

Just purchased a used 2008 144 Wb Cargo Van....Very happy until yesterday. Jumped in the van to go surfing after a long day of work. Driver door opened to fully opened position and heard poping sound. Tried to close door, and would not close. I did not try to force it close, but looked for any sort of locking mechanism. Could not find any reason why the door would not close. Now I have an obvious problem my door won't close...meaning I can't use the car or secure the car. Get into my other German car and run to the auto store to buy Torx Drivers (30T, 25T, 20T) which you will need to remove the door panels and speaker. Looked and found the Door Panel Removal PDF on this forum which is in German and followed the pictures to remove the Driver Side Door Panel. Only broke one the the Green clips getting the door panel off, removed the electronic door and window harnesses and mechanical door handle cable. Removed the speaker and part of the plastic dirt protection shield to get a look into the internal door hinge. Well there is not that great of access to that internal door hinge, which I messed with for about 40 minutes. Long story short...I forced the door closed and once again heard the same popping sound. If I move the door open and closed almost to the point where the door goes to fully opened that internal silver hinge is clicking. Something wrong here...just wondering if anybody else has run into this issue and can provide some insight before taking to the dealer to see what can be done. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I will try to post pictures later today.
