Exclamation Brake pads & rotor change over

I would appreciate some advise re the correct procedure of a brake pade & rotor change over - in my case for a 312d.
I understand that Textar is the pad to go with? Also of note is that my van has NO brake sensors fitted! ? ! Should I worry?

I can advise you as to Textar being a MOEM product Germany same as the Mercedes Brake pad which are Balfer Italy

As I'm not that familiar with the 4x4 what part numbers have you been quoted? It I assume are MB/AG 902 421 0912 pads 004 420 5520 rotors 901 540 0117 sensors

Textar: Pads 002 420 39 20 Rotors 902 421 06 12
I wont include sensors as there are three of in type.

I can if you are interested , guide you through the sequence of brake installation photo by photo but need a day or two to do it all step by step.

Part of the program and this procedure must be done,is to change out brake fluid, flush, and prime all four brakes etc before final road test, to bed in the brakes.unless recently done of course, if so how was it done?

Your brakes should be the same or as similar to a 2x2 but even if the 4x4 variant is different the procedure is the same.

Again I'm lost as to no sensors: Are you sure ! or did someone delete them?
I can show by photo location of front and rear sensors.

Noting: It's Easter and I'm working through the break But will take the time to do this over a few days if you reply and are interested.
Richard

Thanks Richard - Yes I would definitely interested in a walk through - most appreciated!

I now understand that the sensors were simply taken out at some point and no-one has bothered to replace them,
which I will do on this pad change.

I saw a TV special on Brembo Brakes in Italy who make brakes for Race cars, Mercedes, Ferarri, Porche, etc. They testes their brakes and the rotors got up to as high as 1000 degrees. On the program the rotors were WHITE hot and glowing at night during the test and they still performed.

They tested a car and took it up to 200 KPH and topped in 4 seconds, then they did that 10 times in a row - the brakes were almost on fire, again still performed.

Amazing company.

Anyone have info for Sprinter?

Kia balance of photos will be taken today, post Monday.
Brembo each brake pad is made to an exact composite material if you for example wanted better brakes on the sprinter AMG and a further 5000 US dollars would be involved as a custom fit then rims become an issue. as to height and width clearances.
Richard.

Hi Kia Doc lets me out this week, so I can get back to the garage and take the last shots before the wheel goes back on.
there is a trick with setting the BFL lever for maximum force which differs from the doctors posts, its worth reading some good advice too, but our calipers are different. that is bedding in the brakes. An interesting thought occurred as to replacing the sensors in the front after The Mercedes lads came up up and had a look, they agreed the original position is in-correct as to wear on the outer pad occurs first, so now located at the outer side of the disc instead of innner side of the disc, the caliper allows room to do it, with out interference when the piston is repositioned.

Flushing the Brake Fluid / Brake Inspection
Weekend for sure sorry, back still very sore.

OK Kia when your out and about ping me and I'll run the photos up as to checking out the differences between yours and mine, but as stated the principle is the same.
Richard.
Warning light came on, travelled 67 Kilometres, they failed as I entered my shop squeaked, and groaned full time, pressure loss on the last two kilometres.
Long story on this one as to why and how it was resolved by DOT Transport Tasmania Mercedes mechanics plus my lads and as to common sence.
This is a safety issue.
