I have been wanting to install an On Board Air system in my Sprinter for some time now. I finally decided on a unit and got busy.
I bought a Viair Heavy Duty On Board Air system in a kit. Install took better part of a lazy Sat morning.
This system comes with a 2.5 gallon tank, a hot rod, sealed, DC oil-less compressor and all the switches, gauges and such to fully install the system. It will supply 150 PSI and will inflate 35 inch tires from flat.
I wanted it so I could air my motorcycles while out camping or at the track. Also so I can air down while driving offroad or Forrest service roads and air back up when I get back on the asphalt. It will also run air tools if needed.
This is the compressor mounted against the footwell next to the sliding door. The AC line is carefully routed away from it, and the other side of the panel has the paint taken off and greased for the ground bolt.
This is the tank, mounted in the same area. Note the red tank in the garage that will no longer be rolling about, half empty in my van.
The wiring and the intake hose for the compressor are routed into the area where the aux battery is located under the passenger seat. Pooky is now added to water proof the entries.
master arming switch, air gauge, and air intake mounted under the passenger seat. The little panel cover still works.
And finally, a spot for me to hook up to a 150 PSI of air, any time I want it.
Yea, I know, my mudflap is sad...
Cheers
