Step bumper with tow-hitch
How to modify a Sprinter step bumper to accomodate a trailer hitch. See Post 27645 which indicates newer Sprinters with step bumpers do not have this problem.

Btw, post 27645 is found on the yahoo SprinterVan list.

The above Steyn family link is only true if you use the factory hitch. Since both the factory hitch and the rear step bumper mount inside of the frame, they conflict. That's why you can't order the factory step bumper with tow hitch.

If you use an aftermarket tow hitch like this...

...you wouldn't have to modify your step bumper, because the aftermarket tow hitches mount outside of the frame.
