I don't know if you are aware, but there is a "high cube" container. The door opening is 2.58m, internal height is 2.70m. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip, I mentioned the high-cube in my previous post. But that would make the shipping more expensive (plus not all ports have high-cubes readily available), I would like the van to fit into a regular container.

Getting a heavy pallet placed in the rear may lower the back end 1-2", compressing the suspension and tires, lowering the air pressure to 8psi may lower it 1-2". Sorry no experience

And how about completely deflating the tires?

That can be done. The tires may be damaged running them uninflated even at slow speeds.
Most likely the tire to wheel seal (bead) will break loose from the rim while moving the van around. Once that happens the tire will need to be re-seated to the rim before you can re-inflate the tire. Not an easy task on a loading dock, but it is possible using an inflatable tire band while the wheels are in place.
You mentioned RORO. I've heard some horror stories about damage and theft of vehicles using that method. The longer the vehicle sits unattended on the dock the more it increases that probability. vic

Good point on breaking the seal, I didn't think about that. Thanks!
I've heard the same horror stories and also know some people that used RORO without larger problems.

I wanted to ask if somebody tried shipping their Sprinter and could confirm my theory. Thanks!
Shouldn't this problem be solved by the shipping company? They should have specs on the size of things they'll ship. Sprinter-source forum members would be "users" of the service. I'd talk to the professionals providing the service.

The measurements are taken at the port, as far as I know.

Is there another vehicle that has 5x130 bolt pattern that has smaller wheels? It doesn't really matter what the weight rating is on the tire, if all that is being done is to drive it in and out of a container. Right?

Do you know *exactly* how tall your van is? Measure it and write the height on your sun visor. Don't make the same mistake I did!

How much "travel" does a Sprinter have? Could you use ratchet straps to compress the suspension? Then you can solve your "securing" it inside issue by just releasing the straps.

:) kidding of course
