Default 315 Dual Turbo & Cruise Control

Are all 315 (2008) ex-ambos dual turbos?

A salesman here is adamant all 315 ex-ambos they have are single turbo. I can see one turbo - when looking from front, on left hand side slightly below beside engine block. Can anyone tell where should I be looking for the second one.

I was also told cruise control is optional but instead these machines comes with a speed limiter - which is a stick on left side just above-forward of indicator stick.

Thanks in advance.

The OM651 (i.e. 316CDI) which followed definitely does have two turbos, can't recall on the 315.

I was under the impression that the 315 150 HP was dual in line turbo active.First is full time active the secondary one is like a supercharger and is only activated under boost power on demand.
I'd have to check Ambos may be set up differently for whatever reason.
Cruise was an option in 2006/7/8 and maybe 9 after that it became a standard feature.

Dam you made me think on that one So back into archives I went and I did find this again as it been years since asked.
Has the 315 150 Hp run on a single or twin two stage series turbo? 2008 models are Euro 4 maybe not it's simply to long back when I was at the track with gurus from Germany.

This is what is said from Mercedes Benz
Engines: You can get Mercedes' four cylinder 2148cc OM 646 CDI turbo-diesel engines in four power ratings, from 88HP to 150Hp the latter is marked a 15 or for a three series Sprinter 315CDI +150HP>>>>>With twin stage turbocharging - again a first for the van in this sector.this basically uses a big turbo and a small one.The small one works on it's own at low power! OK it's full time active, the bigger one then kicks in and at top power,Ah'rrr the small one is cut off so the first inline is only active at low to mid-range rpm.which means the big brother turbo lets the little one rest, while big brother does the hard yards.

Euro 5 July 2010 the 315 was changed completely to a brand new mechanical redesign now referred to as a 316 CDi 4/-line rated 163 HP
Answer: the 315 is dual stage turbo inline.I'm sure it was introduced in JULY 2006 NCV

If wrong{:( I'm happy to be corrected.

Sprinter31.
The 315 needs the twin turbos in order to generate the 150HP. If it only has 1 turbo it will have less power, the stick above the blinkers is the cruise control, all Ambos have it. If you are thinking of buying an ex Ambo I recomend buying direct from the auctions, often the one dealers have are vehicles that have come from the auction and have a problem so they come back on the market. Eric.

I had a feeling they had two but couldn't recall for certain. Each boosts at different vehicle speeds (one low / one high).

So if 315 (2008 model) has a twin turbo then where it is? Or both are built in one housing.

Eric, if these 315 have problem/s, wouldn't it show during RACQ 'Mechanical check'?

RACQ mechanics vary a lot in ability, very few would know anything about sprinters. I had a call from a sprinter driver in QLD yesterday, he is stuck because he can not get anybody to fix his sprinter. When you buy at auction you know that there are no attemps made to hide faults. Most Ambo Sprinters are sold with faults listed so you can pick one that you can fix. The dealer is not going to give you that info. Eric.

I'm the Sprinter owner Eric mentioned and the problem is an auto gearshift module that's failed for the second time. Dealers in Robina and Bundaberg said come in after June 4th! Maroochydore was a bit better but I still have to wait until next week to get it fitted. Thanks to Eric who got the original invoice for warranty sorted for me down in Vic or I'd be here for ever.

I'm on a half lap of Australia so I'd really like some gears working!

Lionel
