I bought our 2004 (Dodge) Sprinter on 1-1-2012 from a fellow ADV Rider Inmate who had bought it a month earlier from another ADV Inmate and Sprinter-Source member davisdmal here: https://sprinter-source.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18349
We had just opened a bicycle rental business (my first small business) a month earlier and my wife and I (always interested in getting a Sprinter) now had an excuse to buy one. SHC, second row seat, second row windows, 140", silver and low miles - this is exactly what we wanted. Now that it was local (15 minutes drive to the owner's house) we figured we should at least go check it out. The owner ended up being one of my wife's customers from her job at the bike shop, a great guy and fellow BMW rider.
We had no idea how we would pay for it - already extended with a new business and 1 stable income - but he let us borrow it for the weekend and I was hooked.
Need a short term loan from the bank and a few minutes in Craigslist cause it look like we're gonna have to put some stuff up for sale.....first on the block, my 2008 Honda Fit Sport - probably the most polar opposite vehicle to a Sprinter.
So the excuse for buying the Sprinter was business, but we're more excited to use it to combine our loves of Car Camping, Motorcycle Touring and Mountain Biking to spend every weekend traveling this summer (when the bike rental biz will be shut down in Phoenix). This thread will try to give detailed descriptions (and photos!) to our modifications and (eh, I hope not) repairs.
This picture was taken the 'borrowed weekend':
