Default Just purchased a 07 View 23H, 17,500 miles

Is excellent condition, garage stored and used little as it was a summer camper for local camp grounds in the Black Hills. My wife and I are flying out in July to drive it back home and take a few weeks to do so. They are in the process of having an independent inspection form a diesel mechanic. Got it for less than $50,000. Chris

Sounds nice. we just purchased a 23j on on eBay with 95000 miles. Ours was under $38K. we are having ours inspected also by an independent RV shop. I'll pick it up this weekend as long as the inspection goes well :-). let us know how the inspection goes!

Sounds like you've made a good purchase and should have a great trip back. I'd want to check when the last oil change occurred and when the water tanks were sanitized.

Don't worry about the RV shop inspection. RV stuff is easy to fix. Have a Sprinter guy look at the Vehicle,,IMHO.

What kind of shops are "sprinter" ones? I kinda assume a dodge dealer should be one of those. How about an RV shop that deals in Sprinters?

Dodge isn't in the loop any more. Freightliner shops are your best bet. They have the training and the heavy hoists needed for an RV. Even when I had a Dodge 400-based RV, most Dodge dealers wouldn't touch it. No problems at Freightliner.

I would not assume that any local Dodge dealer knows squat about Sprinters even if they did sell them once! Sprinters are sort of "specialty" vehicles with particular quirks and they require special tools, and most important, special experience!

I wouldn't trust an RV dealer, even if they sell Sprinters to really know Sprinters. It has been my experience that RV dealers can't handle routine RV stuff very well, much less specialized Sprinter service.

Advice that is worth every penny you pay for it,

Icarus

Thanks, Good advice, I also worry about the tires as there is little tread wear but they are 6 years old. I looked at the 23J but didn't like the lack of couch and it had a smaller kitchen area, too much space given to the permanent bed that was too small for me. Nice price though, best I could do was $47,000, but I got a one owner that garage stored the RV and has maintained it. Chris

If the tires are still under 6 years old when you pick it up, even by a month, and they have sidewall cracking, call Michelin customer support and have them set up an account for you. Then take it to a Michelin tire store, preferably an America's Tire Store (part of Discount Tire), not because they're a great store, but because they have no qualms handling Michelin goodwill adjustments. Other Michelin tire stores don't want to wait for reimbursement from Michelin.

If from their inspection, they determine that the tires aren't roadworthy anymore, they will contact Michelin and you will probably get a goodwill adjustment from them. I got 55% off of a new set of LTX M/S tires this way, about 6 months ago.

The current owner can also do this while they're under 6 years, especially if you offer to pay for the adjusted price of the new tires.
