'02 - '03 differences? - Sprinter-Forum

I've got an "02 Freightliner (see the picture to the left <- ), but it's hard to find parts for it. On the other hand, it's much easier to find parts advertised that fit an '03 Dodge Sprinter.
Take, for example, a tow hitch. I can find lots of 'em for an '03 Dodge Sprinter, but not for an '02 Freighliner Sprinter. Another example is window tint- I ordered window tint from an ebay vendor that was "guaranteed" to fit my van, but they only advertised an '03 Dodge Sprinter. The back window tint was 1/4" too small all the way around the window. I got my money back, but I wonder was this because the company took the wrong measurement, or because the windows on an '03 are actually 1/4" smaller than on an '02?
So my question is- How similar are they? I read up on the Sprinter Wiki, and nothing specific is noted other than the vents on the hood. Other than that, is it a pretty safe bet that anything that fits an '03 will fit an '02?

I have an '02 FL Sprinter and am advised that all '03 parts will fit on an '02 in N. America, just the parts listings start with Dodge's beginning of sales of Sprinters, and Freightliner is often left out of parts listings with auto parts companies, but not with Sprinter parts specialists.

There is a PDF Parts list file for the 2002 Sprinter. Also ones for other year models.
Some parts are unique to the 2002 models (for example, the early 2002 real axle is different than later ones). Otherwise most parts are the same between 2002 and 2003.

I got them from a Website that does not appear active anymore.

I have copied them to: http://aie-services-2.net/Sprinter/ so that you can get a copy.

02va-parts manual.pdf is the one you want to order parts from.

(the 02 part at the beginning indicates a 2002 model)

I have 2002 thru 2007 parts manuals there (thats all I copied).

I highly suggest that you copy any of these that you want, and put the them on a flash drive (or your laptop) and keep it with your Sprinter at all times.

The only one I have for the 2007 and later models is the '07vb-parts manual.pdf'.

I did copy all the versions that were available.

I uploaded a lot of related files to the same place (some are hard to find, others are referenced in other posts on this forum). Please feel free to copy them (they are on one of my servers). I hope they help you as much as they have helped me. I did not create any of them.

I have an 8 gig flash drive in my Sprinters Glove Compartment with these on them. I also have a dedicated laptop (along with DAD hardware and the current software for it) in the Sprinter. I don't want to ever be stuck some place and not have these manuals and DAD available, in case I need service done.
