Hello all,
Please bear with me here as I elaborate. I'm hoping that perhaps someone or a few might be able to help in this quest. I have a friend who finally formed a 501c3 non-profit about 2 years ago after personally undertaking a great cause for many years prior. He travels the country consulting blood banks on training how to bring in more donors, and his focus is not just blood, but life-saving platelets, specifically. He donates every 2 weeks. Used to run blood drives in our area every 2 weeks. He has funded his non-profit much on his own. It's time for a new vehicle for him, and he is beginning the quest to find a dealership or manufacturer of motor homes to donate one to his non-profit for use in traveling the country consulting and training blood banks. He is not particular about the motor home he gets, it can be used or new. And a sprinter would be perfect for him as he travels alone and doesn't need a big rig. Having just researched a long time myself and just purchased a new sprinter LTV, I thought I would ask here if anyone might have any info on either dealerships who have donated vehicles to charity (used is good, new would be great, of course) or if anyone has heard stories or knows anything of manufacturers donating vehicles. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. GS PS: I hope I'm not out of line here asking for info in these forums, and if so, my apologies. Last edited by gspinkwrld; 06-07-2012 at 07:45 AM. |

Hi. Did your friend get his Charity on the list?:
http://vehiclesforcharity.org/index.html My van was originally owned by a bakery (has a fleet) in MA and they donated it to a charity in Colarado. Van was resold to a state auction in NH. However, some miles were needlessly added in the meantime. I ended up buying from a small dealer that bought it at the NH auction. Dealers typically only donate vehicles that are very high mileage, near the end of its lifespan, or need a lot of work that's not worth any payoff. They still make money on a trade-in. Otherwise, I would suggest your friend get a good deal on a used cargo in decent shape (like at an unreserved state/municipal auction) and convert it to an RV. Regards, |

@djc126 Thanks for your post is long overdue. I have shared your information with my friend. Much appreciation.
To all... Within days of posting my initial request, some nice person posted a response suggesting my friend contact either MB USA or MB Europe, and mentioned the MB helped out with either providing a base vehicle or providing funding (if I recall correctly) for a group who were making the rounds of the National Parks last year. That post, for some reason, is no longer here. If the person who posted that info would please either repost or contact me and give me the details again, I'd like to pass on any information I can to my friend. Thanks much. @Dick,
You are absolutely right that I forgot I posted it in 2 diff. threads. I wasn't sure which was the appropriate place for such a post. Thanks for refreshing my memory. GS |
