Hey guys, I finally got around to installing the innovatek gps 721. It is a fold out 7" touchscreen stereo, gps, dvd player. I pulled out the becker 10 and found the innovatek plug is the same as the factory plug for the becker. Nice, I had to re-arrange the wires in the plug supplied with the stereo and plug it in. I just sat the gps antenna on the dash in front of the radio vent and it worked fine. I have used this brand for the last few years due to the usb plug on the front and the ability to play many files off of the torrents. a 4 gig flashdrive gives you a lot of variety and it is easy to change out daily if you like. The screen works well, misses the shifter in park and looks great. This is a very versatile unit that you can pick up cheap compared to the big names. I offered them a hundred below the ebay price and they jumped at it. Check out the pics and I will try to get a graphic up of the plug wire switch around for an easy factory plug and play...

Very nice unit !! I have a couple of questions... Could you tell me about the software for GPS? Is all details information included for Maps? Does track on map show precision position? Thank you for replay. I am going to buy same, but still think...

hey alex, The gps works very well and once it powered up it knew exactly where I was. You can select three different views to see the map. It can be zoomed in and out. The maps are loaded into the unit. I think you can specify canada or usa at the time of purchase.... I will be able to test that out when I head to whistler this year for the summer. Thanks for the positive votes up there guys... I need to get the satellite radio hooked into the rear jacks instead of using the front input to make the install a little more streamlined and I need to pull it out again to hook up the adapter for the radio antenna.

Hey guys, My stereo got stolen on sunday night, broke the passenger window and got the head unit and my satellite radio head. They possibly showed their smarts by tearing the gps antennas out, thus rendering the units pretty useless. I am planning on putting the same unit back in the van. I have really come to like it and how it does all I need without having too many features. I'm going with llumar security film on the windows to keep them from shattering thus slowing down the scumbags. I guess I need an alarm now, but, I don't really want one. I'm about to head out on my summer thru november trip so maybe I'll just get an akita and let him drink red bulls when I'm not in the van!

Yeah right outside the house, between 12:30 and 6 am, thief missed all my other goodies in the truck so, I assume they were on foot and just wanted a quick hit. Police report was taken over the phone, and USAA set me up with a new window the next day. I had to help the installer, he was unfamiliar with the sprinter, sweating his ass off and putting dirty fingerprints on everything. This is the first window broken that I haven't installed myself. I have never had comprehensive insurance before! Very good quiet safe neighborhood, but, no vehicle is safe from a smash and grab loser.
I only have another week or so here and then back on the road to whistler for the summer. I just have to let it roll off my back and be thankful that I have the ability to take off for the summer and enjoy my life! |

Hey guys, I got about two years out of this unit, the screen wont come out anymore by the motor or cams. It will pull out by hand but then not fold up... chinese junk essentially. it still plays and such so not a big problem. Just a note to warn people off of the innovatek brand. The first one I had that was stolen was bulletproof but the successive ones are jammed with unneeded junk and hampers the electronics....

When I first saw the first post I thought something was up. I used to install car stereo and the brand you bought never had a good reputation for reliability. Sorry to hear that yours doesnt work properly.
As far as I know and FWIW I still like Alpine and they make a great GPS in-dash unit. http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ine-z928hd |
