white vans and rust

Hey guys, My 2006 3500 has 43000 miles on it and is always inside at night.

How many are you (with white vans are a bit irritated with the rust spots from the brakes and rust bubbles at the door corners, near the lower windshield and other spots?

Also, how many have had dealers say that "is common with all white vehicles" Personally, I've always had white vehicles and this is a first.
So mister dealer, stop insulting our intelligence.

So, since there is no dealer around that I have found with a back bone to fix the paint and rust, I guess a paint job and clearcoat is due at 43,000 miles. Wow now that is a great paint job to last years.

Anyone up for a group buy on a paint job???
I live in Maine and would be willing to travel a bit.

Sorry for the rant.
But, if i presented my customers with a product like this, I would be swinging from a tree.
Regards

If you think a paint shop might be interested in offering a discount on a group of Sprinter paint jobs I'd be happy to consider being part of it, depending on the deal, of course. I have a white 2006 SHC 140 that has small rust spots and I want a dark blue black color. No body work needed - just paint prep on the rust spots. I am in Essex MA - not too far from Wells.

In my initial research I've found a number of places that aren't able to handle a 104" tall vehicle in their paint booths. If you find the right place, let me know.

My 04' sprinter has rust spots coming up from behind the paint in spots here and there. Also noticed a couple seams rusting as well as the gutters. I took it to the dealer since the paint supposed to have a warranty against rust issues like this, they told me its null and void since I use my Sprinter for work.

How about someone showing not Damliers paintwork warranty proper, but!. The U.S. Sprinter proper that states if used for work it's paintwork is exempted from warranty.
From what I have seen it's a limited warranty, but negotiable. example acid rain,or debris,or impact from others!;such as flying rocks etc, others have had paintwork warranty repairs done by dealers.

Our 2007 white Sprinter is in the shop right now being painted. Rust spots were popping up everywhere. It's covered under our warranty.

Is the entire van being painted?? Thats great you are getting the service and warrenty. Many people have been screaming at the dealers and dodge since day one. Foss motors fixed on rust spot on mine and said the others would have to make a hole in order for it to be warrentied. How did you convince your dealer?? Do they want more business??

Hey, boxergal, what is your van? Is it an RV conversion or a straight from Dodge/Freightliner van? We argued with a dealer about the rust on our conversion and they maintained that since we bought it from an RV dealer and not from Dodge or Freighliner, that the warranty didn't count.

And car884 is correct about the warranty. After I was rejected by the roving Dodge specialist I carefully read the corrosion warranty and it clearly reads tha the rust has to have penetrated into the interior of the van.

As Altered Sprinter has previously reported, many of the white vans, such as those sold to RV converters, are fleet vehicles and the white paint is intended to be only a primer.

In short, youwere very good at convincing Dodge/Freighliner.
