starting? Glow plugs? help

On a couple of occasions i've gone to start my sprinter O5 2500 and everything seems normal all lights on dash as usual but the glow plug light doesn't shut off ..it will stay lit for a looong time and then off but won't start as I turn the key nada...wiggle the key play with the shifter turn the key glow plug light lights and off as usual turn the key it starts as if nothing wrong...sometimes..whats wrong??:thinking:

I'd first suspect a bad connection at the battery, or a bad ground connection. I'd remove battery cables, clean the connections and reinstall. I'd also remove ground nut above battery, clean and reinstall all wires.

done all that.. cleaned every connection at the battery and above the ground..could just a weak battery cause this?

That's to warn you that you have a disfunctional glow plug, they're supposed to do that when there is a glow plug issue.
