hello fellas. i was wondering if they was any way or disabeling the daytime running light? our van is equipt with them. and since there will be times when the van is on but he isnt driving it is stupid to have them on. specially when ideling in a parkinglot sleeping.

if not, would it be ok to pull out the fuse, and put an inline fuse with a seperate switch that would turn them on and off?

Re: [sprintervan] Re: Daytime Running Light Relay Removal

The instrument lights and license plate light will still come on when
the key is on, but pulling the three fuses does disable the automatic
DRL function without killing any other standard features.

I was unable to find a relay under the seat that disabled the DRL's as
described in my 2003 service manual.

Thank you so much. I am using my van for expediting so sometimes I need to let it idle for a little at night so I can get some heat in there. I don't want to blind other guys sleeping at truck stops with my DRL's. Thanks again for the info.

Didn't I also read somewhere, perhaps in one of the manuals (too lazy to look it up), that it is not recommended to idle the 2.7 more than 10 minutes or so?

:2cents: Espar also has some diesel fired furnaces that output hot air rather than hot water. They use less diesel, and electricity to run. They were designed for the marine environment, but are seeing use in truck sleeper cabs due to the no idle regulations in many places. There is also a diesel fired ceramic cooktop by ??? that has a blower top to allow it to also work as a heater.

I have an 03 and just pulled the #4 #10 and #11 fuse to disable the DRLs, but the dash lights are still on whenever the van is running, if I pull the DRL relays from under the drivers seat will the dash lights only come on when the headlights are turned on?

Had to disable my DRL's a few months back . In my case the alt. went out while I was going on vacation . The shop charged up the batteries & I pulled fuses . Lucky it was still early in the day so I ran with everything shut down . Made it home without any trouble on just the battery , was less then 150 miles . I've asked a friend who does my electrical work to see if we can wire a switch in to kill them when I don't want them . I'll let you all know if it can be done .

I have not tried this on a Sprinter yet (mine is in storage) but many cars disable the DRL when the parking brake is set. If the parking brake is set when first starting the DRL will off until the parking brake is released.

The main dash lights are always on.
Things like the heater are "dash lights"
no issues with the three fuses pulled. high beams ok.
