In reality what choice does Ford Have! as previously stated, Both GM..Ford, and Chrysler to the lesser degree... had ran out of time ,to redesign a new platform! for 2009.
The question to be is! 'WILL'.. the public accept it? the Ford Connect is an older body design with an upgraded face-lift, has gas and diesel available.
To bring in another import in a commercial based range could open up the flood gates to opposition makes.
Personally if I was buying a vehicle as similar it would not be the "Transit Connect" it's already out date not a proven vehicle on a US geographical layout. so the VW Baby is on the cards to fill the slot Mazda, Toyota , the list is huge, Mercedes-Vito and VW-Transporter are a tad larger, but for the money and power to match ,as to the cubic capacity! based on economics on a business decision , it would make economic sense to go, either VW or Mercedes.. GM can sell the Berligo and there goes the last of the US auto manufacturing industry.
