For once I was bluffed on curious George Removal of the Programmed limiter is illegal so it really answers your own question To stop and prevent high speed accidents from the fact of Dodgy courier drivers getting from A to B with out regard of others safety
My Sprinter is not limited but try driving it at over 100 miles per hour on a highway and try and stop, the brakes just won't do it in time, besides we have cops hiding behind every gum tree, out on a revenue hunt, all in the name of Safety, that's a joke, if Gov wanted to stop road deaths, fine put limiters on them, and enforce the law.
The one disadvantage with a limiter is overtaking once you hit the top-end locked off speed 50 MPH 60 MPH 72 MPH and 80 MPH your in trouble , so I'm not keen on them at all. but it's my personnel opinion . England has the tightest restrictions for this year on service roads limted to 50 MPH.
The only people that can change them is MB via WIS as it has to be officially re-programmed-on-line via a code authorized By Benz, there is no other way around it that I know of and If I did which I do not .I would not divulge the information as to the prescient that would be set I know it would go through the forums like wild fire.
In part the speed sensor in the rear brakes and transmission modulation to RPM via the ECU Not an easy task even chipping up the Sprinter will only give you more aceleration not a top end speed unless you spend 20 grand on a Brabus system, for a 2 series Sprinter, as they are classed in the passenger carrying type SUV under 2.8 T
But I don't know how or even care to know as to playing with the that mystery box, of electrotherapists.

I also asked here in Italy for your problem: and I can tell you this:
By Mercedes Benz mechanic does not possible do this work because it would lose the guarantee of your Sprinter 318cdi; they know how to do, but can not do modified for you.
if you really want to do the job you have to contact one of these private mechanical electronic also ECUs expert reprogramming etc etc,one of these mechanic kind can do the work for you
these days I will ask for you also to my personal mechanic that he remapped and programmed many times chip at my " Sprinter" if he knows how to remove speed limiter on your Sprinter model ; i know that he routinely remove speed limiter for many vehicles and supercars ;
maybe he know how to do


in this your pic at 165km with speed limiter insert your rpm are 3600 and you are not in red
i think that if you remove speed limiter i think that you can get to the red4000, 4100 rpm about 177km without engine damage (not to do it everytime this speed and not recommended)
but not sure and still i have to ask at the expert

Well look at the UK 2009 Going down to 70 mile an hour with speed limtors and watch who drops in first wanting to find out as to how it can be removed. Which makes me wonder who would even bother with a V6

I was interested in this thread.
i asked and it is as I said,
i just want to tell you that you can remove the speed limiter on 318cdi also. this is sure!
Here I have the person with the use of computer can perform this job on 318 he is the same person I was telling you and that he is running normally these changes.I have the confirmation. he also told me the Sprinter 318 is tested for speed of 165 km and also its brakes ecc ecc and for this reason that mercedes mechanics do not remove limiter speed for you and they not recommended that for you
Now I hope that you will find a specialist ecu chip mechanic preparator also in Portugal. or maybe you have already done the work

thank you for everything, yes I'm an expert, the person I rescheduled to 318, but then failed to remove the limiter for this option did not appear in the schedule obd
