Default Driving thru a Locust (grass hopper) Plague

In the next 2 months will be heading to Brisbane via Broken Hill and Return via Hay in each case there is every likely hood that we will be driiving thru a Locust Plague, 15 years ago had a similar experience and had a wire mesh on the Bullbar in front of our Landcruisers grill it ended up full of locusts that had to be cleaned a number of times. Do not have a Bullbar or Nudge bar on our Sprinter so will probably have to tie a nylon mesh across the front of our Sprinter and of course this will rub against the paintwork.

Any better solutions.

Bug screen and grille screen collectors are manufactured in South Australia for Sprinters too. but overpriced.

Peter, try sticking grey duct tape to the vehicle anywhere you are concerned about rubbing. You may need to clear the mesh occasionally to get enough air through. And if you need to clean any of the little buggers from your radiator, do them dry with compressed air. Water will make them swell. Before you leave home treat all front facing externals with a liberal coating of wax, spray silicone, armour all etc to make it easier to clean off the guts at the end of the trip.

SWMBO generally cleans the Cruiser or Sprinter after a trip, but after going thru the Locust swarm years ago she was not interested in cleaning the yellow green muck off the cruiser.
