Recall not completed, as a workaround, I break the EGR power

Working on finding a MB dealer that will provide a loaner vehicle (any). MB national opened a case for me & etc.

So until that gets done, I break the #2 black EGR wire at shutdown. Will incorporate a relay too. It seems to work well also to open it when fast idling (1400) w/ my pedal gizmo, much less overshoot when warming & running AC.
Also if I do idle w/o the EGR I must restart w/ it enabled or no turbo.

Questions
How to determine if I am consuming more fuel?
Does anyone know of any side effects?
I plan to inspect the EGR soon for debris & closure.
The boost is small, on vs slight vacuume, off.
