Stripe Removal?

Has anyone removed the factory stripes for their Sprinter? If so, how difficult was it?

Heat gun and be very careful
Or another chemical process, which is too risky for a novice to use.

A hair dryer works. If there's any residue left, WD40 (really) works well in working the residue off.

Depending on the time your van spent underneath the sun, you may still have some sort of stripe on your van because of the different oxidation rate (or none) the paint has experienced underneath the sticker.

Not true, Roadtrek does add sticker stripes on their vehicles.

It's a 2010, so I'm guessing oxidation is at a minimum if at all, That's why I want to jump on it now.

Sprinter Rick has a new 2010 Roadtrek so I think he is referring to the Roadtrek stripes. Should not be a problem for oxidization of paint this new.

I stripped all the Pleasureway stripes and decals off my Sprinter and there were many. They had put Pleasureway on there five times complete with the mailing address and phone number on the rear door. I left the model name on the rocker panel so it could still be identified as a Pleasureway Ascent because we get a lot of questions about the van everywhere we go. Removal is easy to do with a heat gun or hair dryer and pick the area with a fingernail to get started. I have done this removal many times on vans and the easiest way is to just warm the area of the decal enough so the decal peels off and doesn't crack or break off as much like it does when it is cool. The job is easier in a heated garage. The sun works well too if you can stand the glare. When the perfect amount of heat is applied to the decal the adhesive comes off with the decal. Trying to remove the decal too cool leaves the adhesive behind which is harder to remove in large amounts. Heating the decals too much makes the decal soft and streaches too much to come off easily. Go slow, work on smaller areas about 6" X 6" at a time and heat ahead of the area you are removing. When you are done there will be adhesive left behind and you can clean off with adhesive remover or other products. Make sure you use a clean area of the cloth when removing adhesive as the cloth gets the adhesive on it the removal becomes more difficult. Goo Be Gone doesn't work so well on large areas. Laquer thinner works well but be careful how long you leave it on and it can melt plastic etc.

Not true, Roadtrek does add sticker stripes on their vehicles.
Which is an aftermarket RV addition, not Mercedes.
Keep heat gun on low, and once a corner of the sticker is able to be lifted do the rest with care,as to not burn the paint-clear-over underneath,the sticker.
Prep paint with:Medium no 2 swirl remover, with black waffle pad at 1200 rpm which will restore and light sctaches, then apply one coat of cabbanna wax dry and buff with a black smooth pad,to a factory finish,speed rate 1500 rpm.
What ever oxidation if any, will dissipate.

3M has a 6 oz spray product that removes decal glue. They also have 08984 in a quart can that removes glue. It is nasty stuff, use it outdoors or with a lot of ventilation. I get a headache when I use it.

Go to your local paint factors and ask for a toffee wheel, pretty easy to get stripes off that way.

So, I completed the stripe removal. Used a my fingernails, a blow dryer, some De-Solve and some instant detailer after I was done. I think it looks cleaner.
