Auxiliary heater and more

When comparing my Sprinter to others last year, we were surprised not to find an auxiliary heater.

I found in all the build info, code HH2, electrically powered hot-air auxiliary heater. Although I have a sending unit in the fuel tank, KL1, for the diesel heater, I have an electric heater. As far as I can see there are no controls. (except perhaps, mind)

I tried starting cold and turning on the heat to see if I got anything but did not. I do get heat faster than in my previous vehicles - when water temp gets to about 60 I am getting heat - maybe that is it.

Not to open previous discussions :laughing: but I also have code KB0, Main tank, 100 litres which of course, does not match the Dodge owners manual but does match the European owner's manual*.

*Just trying to stay one step ahead for car shows (if I ever find one), my conversion to MB (ahem) also includes a complete set of European (English) manuals. :rad:

Keith code HH2 Look at your build sheet to see if heater booster deleted? On the Tins the code was H92 heater booster deleted. Fuel tank sender is Fuel preheating system M96 Yeah I know it's not on your ref/ book.

I was under the impression that code HB9(Aux heater Air) was standard on all North American NCV3's. I do know on mine with cooler ambient temps turning the fan on when the vehicle is cold will produce immediate heat. I just found this in the options manual. Look at the ambient temps window at the bottom of paragraph.

Details and Technology
The heater booster consists of radiator elements (fins) which are fitted with PTC
(positive temperature coefficient) resistors and are held together in a mounting
frame by spring clips. When an electric voltage is applied to the heater elements,
an electric current flows through the PTC resistors, which heat up. The fins absorb
the heat and radiate it to the passing air. As soon as the engine is running, the
electric heater booster steadily increases its power from 0 to 100% in the space of
28 seconds. The heater booster is situated in close proximity to the air outlets, to
keep heat losses to a minimum. The warmed air is circulated into the interior via the
vehicle heater/blower system.
Switch-on conditions:
Coolant temperature < 176°F and ambient temperature < 50°F.
Switch-off conditions:
Coolant temperature > 176°F and ambient temperature > 55°F.

Richard - no HH2 or M96. The KL1 says, Sender uni (fuel) for auxiliary heater.

Gary - the ambient temps are probably why my test failed! I'll probably have to wait until this fall to get a proper test. No HB9, just the HH2. Love that technology . . . something else I can't fix if it goes South.

I don't have a build sheet, but from what I can tell aux fuel sending unit is standard and the fuel tank is 98 litres on the NA vehicles.
