I have an '05 118" Passenger Sprinter with perpetually squealing brakes. And they make a LOT of dust. Does anyone else have this problem? I had a huge brake dust issue with my '04 F150 and got Akebono ceramic pads, which fixed the problem. Any sources of upgraded pads for Sprinters? I also heard there are several different types of brakes used on the Sprinters, all with different pads? Any suggestions appreciated.

Mine doesn't, but then it's only a year old with 10k miles. I do have a lot of dust, but that's expected.

Many owners have reported squealing/grinding brakes. One has reported the pads were cracked and burned. Could be the OEM brakes are not stable if overheated and shrink (sinter) at the surface resulting in a much harder surface than if not overheated. Visit the yahoo sprintervan forum and search there for alternatives. There have been many posts on this subject.

german cars use a very hard pad and a thin rotor.
every other brake pad change you trash the rotors
or look into getting cross drilled rotors

says to check vin if you order.
im sure there is plenty of after market pads for for sprinters

At 95k miles, my original brakes don't squeal, squeek, grind, growl, or throw sparks. I've been following the thicknesses of rotors and pads with every tire rotation (~10k miles) and I predict I will need new front rotors at 105k and new front pads at 150k - rears over 200k each. I think service brake life depends on how you use them (overheat or not) and, of course, how much you use them.

my 05 squeaks at 16k miles  They're starting to score the rotors. I hear good things about the performance friction pads, and I'm looking to get a set and trash the oem's. I hope it's not too late for my rotors.
